Gabriel Flores García (born 1930 in Jalisco, Mexico – died 1993 in Jalisco, Mexico) was a prominent Mexican painter and graphic artist whose work bridged the gap between abstraction and emotional expression. Known for his vibrant use of color and his exploration of abstract forms, Flores García is celebrated as one of the most significant figures in the evolution of modern Mexican art, especially in the context of the Mexican Abstract Expressionism movement. His distinctive style reflects a deep connection to his Mexican roots while embracing universal themes of human emotion, spirituality, and nature.

A key aspect of his work is his ability to synthesize his personal and cultural experiences with broader abstract trends. His works often reflect the textures and rhythms of the natural world, as well as the cultural landscapes of Mexico, infusing his abstract compositions with a sense of place and identity. Despite working in abstraction, Flores García’s art is not purely geometric or impersonal; instead, it remains rooted in organic forms and spontaneous brushwork that suggest movement and life. His artwork reflects his deep connection to his Mexican heritage, drawing on indigenous symbols and natural motifs, but he was not confined by tradition—he embraced experimentation, making him a key figure in the Mexican avant-garde.
