David Alfaro Siqueiros (born December 29, 1896, in Durango, Mexico – died January 6, 1974, in Cuernavaca, Mexico) was a Mexican painter, muralist, and political activist. He is regarded as one of the most significant figures in the Mexican Muralist Movement, alongside Diego Rivera and José Clemente Orozco.
Siqueiros' work is characterized by a dynamic, realistic style that blends elements of social realism with innovative artistic techniques. His murals are not only visually striking but also deeply rooted in his political and social convictions. A committed communist and revolutionary, he saw art as a tool for social change, using large-scale compositions to depict the struggles of the working class, the history of Mexico, and the injustices faced by its people.
